no, get atleast a 500. you will quickly become bored with a 250 and wish you had gotten a 500.

l started off with a Honda VTR 250. Its true that you will get bored with it, but its the best bike to learn on. Its cheap to buy and cheap to maintain. If its your first bike, you have to assume that you are going to spill it at least once. Everybody does!! Its also cheaper to insure, but thats no big difference.

A bigger bike might be intimidating and if you are scared of your bike, its not a good combination.

If it is your first bike then the 250 is a good bet. My brother has a 600 and says its great, but that the 250 has the better handling and is safer to ride. If all your looking for is speed 600 is great, but if you want to be on the safer side the 250 is better. Keep in mind the bigger bikes are harder to ride only because they are higher up and you have to be able to keep at least one foot completely on the ground.

l ride a 250 now & l would say it is a great starter bike. However u will get tired of the lack of power very quickly. You might want to look into the 500 or 650. The Ninja is not so tuned that it will scare the crap out of u every time u twist the throttle. But the bigger bikes will have that extra power to keep u out of trouble on the highway.

If ur cruising at 65mph & some jackass on the cell phone next to u decides he wants to move into ur lane the 250 only give u one option, BREAK! the 500 or 650 gives u the option of accelerate away from danger OR break. Options r good on motorcycles.

What ever u do get yourself some good riding gear. Textile or mesh jacket & riding paints. Not to mention a good helmet. Without the riding gear if & when u lay the bike down u chance losing 1/2 ur skin. At least with the gear u will keep u hide.

Remember it is not a matter of IF ur going to crash but WHEN. EVERY rider will crash at some point.

Yes, that is an excellent bike. I've ridden a friends ninja 250 & had a blast on it. l am 180lbs & 6+. The bike is small for me, but still very fun & I've tried to convince my wife to get one. It is plenty fast enough too, I've gone up to around 100mph on it, but very controllable & predictable. l would stick with this size & model for a year or two & see if u r really into riding. If u love it, maybe consider up sizing then, if no, this bike will provide u years of cheap, reliable, fun transportation & unbeatable gas mileage.
