l suppose there is only about 15 other riders that would of fitted the bill, still lets see if Sete proves us wrong...

l am actually surprised that it has taken so long for anyone to post about this. l was going to a few days ago but forgot.

However Wiggysan, l do not mean to be confrontational but l am really surprised at ur reaction & bitterness. You have called Loris Capirossi a has been recently & now Sete Gibernau. By who is yard stick can we say that Sete was a failure? OK so he did not win a championship but he was the only person who took it to Vale & there is no shame in coming second to him & indeed he did beat him on a number of occasions. l would say that failure is not an adjective that can fairly be applied to Sete.

It was only a few weeks ago that everyone was saying how well Sete was doing in the Ducati tests & l am sorry but l for one happen to think that the people at Ducati, who for sure would have given this their blessing, know a damn site more about if Sete is a viable rider than we do. l also welcome anything that puts another bike on too small a grid.

OK so there is an argument that it could be a good thing to give new seats to younger riders but by that logic then Troy Bayliss would not have gotten the Ducati WSBK seat after 'failing' in Moto GP & there is not a single true bike racing follower who would say - thank God Ducati did the right thing.

l am not saying that Sete will set the heather on fire, l simply do not know how he will do but l think he is a decent man & if people who truly know what they r talking about & r willing to back their choice with cash say that he is worthy then we r not in a position of knowledge, at this moment in time, to criticise their judgement.

Edit - l remember it well & trust me there is no bigger Valentino Rossi fan than l am. l am however a bike racing fan & the video clip u chose to highlight actually backs up my point - that was Gibernau climbing to a podium with Rossi & that in my mind backs up my statement that the guy can not be called a failure. Vale was playing his mind games amd can we say that Gibernau was not in pain? If that had been a football player ... need l say more?

l am not saying anyone has to like him or otherwise but this is bike racing & l always thought we had the utmost respect for any of the people who r good enough to get on one of those things & live the dream that we all have. Pedrobot has the personality of a haddock but l still respect him & what he does.

l must admit at times l used to pull for the ''Flying Mullet'' Unlike Rossi l have never heard him say a coarse word about anybody( something Rossi may try) And his wife is smokin! l still am not sure if Rossi & his little boyfriend r not rump rangers. Let is face it Sete is fast & has been Rossi is only real Challenge in the past series. In fact the only one l know that is faster is myself. my only problem is l give up 100 lbs to Rossi. So, He would break out the chicken bones & rocks & put the hex on me like he did Sete a few years back. l would just piss him off at the riders meeting & knock the snot out of him & ride for the win

It kind of a kick in the balls that ''the cursed one'' gets a ride and Spies has to go to WSBK. l will be surprised if they finish the season with Sete and even more surprised if he gets anywhere near the podium.

l hope they have the Whambulance warmed up; l predict some crying from Sete in 2009..

ShuggieMac & Blag_d have some good points here. Im with Blag-D on the Spies comment but think Ben going to Yamaha Japan is a good thing. as for Sete (still cant get those little marks over the e) he was quicker than Marco on the test track. But was still well of the pace. l agree with ShuggieMacs comment about the people at Ducati will have some Idea about how competetive he will be & how much revenue he can create. l also agree with the comment about respect to all these guys. Bonus for me is l get to Hate Sete all over again. alongside Jorge.
