obvuiously l wanna jump and race and l have with a 85 2 stroke but l dont know if l can handle a 250 thats the only thing that keeps me from getting 1 and l dont know what brand motocrossto get either please give me facts about the different brands and differences and the ups and downs on 125s and 250s thanx

As 2 strokes are slowly being phazed out you may be better off getting a 250cc 4 stroke. You dont say how old you are but at 5ft 8 would be getting a bit big for an 85cc. In Australia quite often the 125cc 2 strokes have to race against the 250cc 4 strokes and depending upon the track (if its clay or sand) the 250cc usually do better than the 125cc epecially if it is a sand track as the 250 will pull through sand a lot better.

you will have to do your own research on the bikes to see which one will suit you the bet. l would not go with Honda because of the fact that they discontinued the 2 stroke line all together. l would say Yamaha makes a great bike...
But as far as what size to get is also up to you..
A 125 machine might fit you well now, but wait a year or two, it will then be too small. thats why l would get the 250..

you would probly be better off with a ktm sx 125 because they are quite quick and are easy to through around..

l would go with a 250 4-stroke if l were you. They r the dominate bike now & r more reliable then a 2-stroke, though if u r good at rebuilding the top-end of ur 85 maybe u would be happy to own a used 125 2-stroke. You r tall enough to handle these bikes, not sure ur weight though, but u should be fine. There r girls smaller then u riding 120 horsepower sportbikes, so l think u can handle a 45 horsepower dirtbike. Any of the Japanese brands is an excellent choice for ur 250 dirtbike, the differences r not that big, its the model that makes the difference.

Personally l would not get either. Have you actually been to a race in the last 5 years? No one outside of a few scrubs are racing two strokes in the lites and premier class. But if you do want to follow that ridiculous path a 250 2 stroke is probably too big of a jump to make. Maybe look at the KTM 144SX. Do yourself a favor and at least ride a 250F and compare that to a 125.
