l have an '08 yz250f. When l shift into 1st to take off it seems like l have to give a little too much throttle to keep it engaged and for me to take off. Is this a clutch problem? If so, what can l do to fix it?

Theres nothing wrong at all. This is simply how the new four strokes are set up. The do not ''lug'' like the old ones you really got stay in it. Nothings wrong with your bike go ride it and break her in a little!

being a brand new bike it needs to be run in things should loosen up and you will get more of a feel for your bike the more you ride in a month or so you wont even notice it

Sounds like it is delayed

Its not the clutch, it just needs to be ridden a little more.

If its not because its not ridden enough, then it ahs to do wtih something else besides the clutch

Yamaha clutches arnt the greatest, its been known for a while & yamaha is trying fix the clutch issue

i have an 07 yz450f, it did the same thing.

you should be able to pull in the clutch & click into first without the biking wanting to stall or take off!

if it does that then what the hell is the purpose of the clutch then?

what is happening is the clutch plates r sticking, which means the clutch is NOT FULLY ENGAGING, now how l solved the problem was,i took it down the road & went through the gears & by doing that it loosend the clutch plates up & never had the problem since.

Now if that doesnt work then u might have to switch oil
i run motul 10w40 on mine & clutch works great
now if u ru the bike hard u 10w15

Its just a new bike man
