Find out what local clubs u have close by & either go along on a race day or contact the club secretary for information about racing. Find out what sections u would be entitled to race for ur age group & ask a few questions about what bikes the people in those sections tend to have.
The local clubs will also be able to tell u if they have any club coaches & how much they charge. The country l am in it is mandatory for all juniors (assuming u r a junior) to have done 5 hours of coaching before they can get a licence to race & because of this the club has coaching days which cost nothing for the juniors to attend. But then they r only run by a level one coach so only the basics get taught as it is not hard to get a level one coaching licence. Then u get into higher level coaching & a 2 days school costs around $200 but that is in Australia. Some people have individual lessons which usually cost about $60 to $70 an hour if it is with a top coach.
But of course that is where l live & it may be completely different where u r so that is why it would be best to speak to the local clubs & ask.
Make sure u have all the protective gear to be as safe as possible & before even thinking about racing make sure u r comfortable on the track with other bikes around you.
Good luck

Well first u need to learn to ride & get a bike. A used motorcycle can cost anywhere from $1000-$3000 dollars depending on the size. Gear will cost at least $300 dollars. If u want to be safe u will get a full set which costs more. Training, is easy when u can have someone with u that knows how to ride & can teach you. To find motocross tracks near you, type ''motocross tracks in (your city), (your state)'' onto Google Maps. It comes up with the tracks in ur area. It listed all the tracks l know of, for my area. Depending where u live, u might not have a lot or any.
Race fees depend on the track. Tracks in my area (Sac., CA) r 30-50 dollars for one day race class entry. $10 for a gate fee, & u need to add the money for gas.

There is one place where you can learn about motocross, go to this site, http://ama-cycle.org and look for the rule book, it will give you all the information you will need.

training is one thing.. learning how to ride is another. bike wise, u proabbly want too start with a bike, that is too powerful for you, only cause in a couple weeks u well be use too it & be using all the power, starting out with nothin, is kinda expensive, u have too buy ur gear, protection, helmet, boots, & ur bike..the better quality stuff u buy, the more safe u will be. also go to any dirt bike shop, ''where they sell bikes'' & ask for a saftey course guide.. itsan all day class in hollister, cost about 100 bucks.. but its a great class.
