Im 16 years old and have gatherd some money and im lookin to start motocross , im not sure wat bike l should get and were to practice, can any one give me advice ? any pointers will be greatlyappreciated.

have you ever rode a dirtbike before?
it can take a while to get the hang of it, but once you do its awesome!! ok my advice is to stick with a 2 stroke honda or a yamaha. just get the right size for you. go to a bike shop near you and test the sizes out. once you buy your bike, you can practice/race at a local mx track.

get a yamaha their awesome!!! get a two stroke look at yz 85 and 125 they are good for racing. practice at a local track,trail, or backyard to get that bike and race gear will be around 5000 all together. :)

1.Get a Yamaha yz 125. It is is a good bike and it is a motocross bike.
2.Go to the track and practice. You can also get a motocross coach.
3.Make sure you get the protective gear because as a beginner you will crash at least once.

As long as u r not looking to becoming the next Chad Reed in the space of a few months, 16 is not too old to take up motocross. There r all levels of racing to suit all levels of ability. You would do best to start on a 4 stroke 250cc & any of the known brands would be fine as a beginner. You r too old to race in the 85cc section & the 125cc 2 strokes r slowly disappearing from the grids & honda r not producing on anymore due to pollution. The 125cc is usually have to race against the 4 stroke 250cc class & the 4 strokes r almost always the front runners unless there is an exceptional rider on the 2 stroke.

Go onto dirtwerkz.com & find tracks close to u & go along to a race day to ask a few questions & get to meet a few people. Then choose what club to join. u will also need to join the governing body of motocross in the country u r in. In America that is the AMA & where l am it is Motorcycling Australia.

Make sure u have all the relevant gear helmet, boots, gloves, jersey, pants, shin guards, elbow guards,goggles, chest protection, & if u can afford it a neck brace.

Go along to the track for practise days & get used to mixing it with the other bikes & find out any club rules & what all the flags means so u know what to do when one is waved you.

When u have had time to get used to the bike u can then think about racing.

well first of all, u need to know that there is no one brand that is better for everybody. whenever someone asks what bike is better, everyone has their opinions. but in all reality, they r ALL just as high in quality, they ALL have their ups & downs, & its just a matter of what bike is right for a particular person is body structure or riding style. ive owned, rode, & raced a Suzuki rm125 for years, & its worked out great for me. ive also ridden 2 stroke & 4 stroke bikes of other brands, almost all of them. just last year though, l tried out my friends yz250f, & the feel of the suspension & size of everything just fit me perfectly. that will be my next bike. so what l recommend u do first is somehow test some bikes out if u can, & if not just sit on them & use that as a judge. actually, l just figured something out for myself. im assuming u have never owned a bike? if so l dont think it really matters what brand u start out on, because chances r there wont be much of a difference with ur amount of riding experience. step 2 is ride. ride anywhere u can. l dont know where u live, but sand pits & trails will do u fine. hit jumps, ride fast, ride in the sand & mud, & all this will teach u valuable skills for racing. then, when u think youve got enough miles on ur bike to race it, head over to a track & do what u need to get ur bike out there. good luck!
