Okay, usually what happens is you enter lots of competitions, prove your skills, and move up rankings until you get chosen by a Moto GP team, or are good enough to just enter the Moto GP competition. Does that help?

If u r old enough to type the question, u r too old to start.

You need to racing [ anything ] mini-moto / go kart / off road dirt bikes, when u r about 5/6.

Be a club champion by 8.

Be signed up by a local main agent by 10.

Be in the MotoGP Academy in Spain by 12.

Be winning the Spanish Championship by 14.

Be racing full time for a factory team by 15.

Be racing for the World Championship by the time u r 16.

......... or just be called be Bradley Smith, et al, as that is his last few years.

This takes over a decade to plan for, massive talent & parents who r willing to sell there home just to get u there ( ALA Smith, Hopkins, Reeding & Stoner, to name a few )

You want to know how to become a MotoGP racer? There is ur answer.

the quality of riders allready doing the circuits at ur age, & have been doing so for some time limits ur chances of getting into Moto GP. u could still race & could become very good at it. but realistically ur too old to make to the top level. most of the top teams r already grooming kids to ride their bikes maybe 10 yrs from now. But if u still want to try. be prepared to spend a lot of time in hospital. & spend a lot of cash repairing yourself & ur bike(s)
try a few track days & see how u like it.

Edit.. l dont know what John W is on about. 16 max for 250 ?
And MotoGP ARE the big boys. The W must stand for Wnker. Its probably a lot easier to be a Jet fighter pilot than it is to get into MotoGP. Just going by how many there r of each in the world.

One: (and this is maybe the most obvious advice that is the easiest to overlook) Contact some MotoGP teams to see what they have to say. Figure maybe one will answer with an worthwhile answer but do not be discouraged if it looks like an uphill battle. Look at the 125 & 250 riders & see what is common (lots of experience).

Two: Get experience racing, start ASAP in whatever motorcycle venue u have readily available. Do not worry if ur current machine is not cutting edge. Just get racing. It will cost a few $$$s so be prepared. Figure a couple bucks per mile raced in tires & maintenance.

Three: Practice, practice, practice.

Four: Get a 125 or 250 GP bike. A few years out of date will be okay. You need be spanking the local/regional competition which is more skill than power on a 125 or 250. Maintenance & expendables will cost more so figure $5 to $10 per mile raced.

Just because u did not start ur racing career at age 3 does not mean you're out of the game. It just means u will really need to develop ur skills faster.

You have a long way to go to get to Moto Gp , just keep winning races and entering new events , all you need to do is enter the right championships and keeps winning , but really its all down to you ! and you need funding ! l am tryin myself and i'm 22 and have kept winning , its hard, sponsorships etc .. all l can say is ''IMPOSSIBLE IS NOTHING''

Do not listen to wiggysan kid. You can do anything u want. True there r age restrictions & u r already too old for the world 250cc class (limit is 16y/o), but the thing to consider is that MotoGP is a joke anyway.
It is little kids on big bikes going around in circles.
Yeah it might get ur little dick wet, but then what? You will be so much happier just riding on the street, going where YOU want.not where a course tells you, riding what u want, not what some rules say u r limited to.

If u want to race then race, but forget that stupid GP crap. It is kids games, literally. Ride with the big boys. the ones with money & real ability.
Save all that work for becoming a jet fighter pilot. After all, is not that what we all wanna be inside anyway? Motorcycles r the jet fighters of the streets. Suit up & go shove a tomahawk up some guy tail pipe!

Start club racing with your local/regional club, win and solicit sponsors, then move up. Nobody hands out motogp rides you have to earn them. There are racers who started late in life such as Max Biaggi. Find your regional organization here, and start racing. http://roadracingworld.com/resources/organizations/
